Authentication bypass and service interruption via certificate URL
Published May 4, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Improper certificate validation in Parse Server before 4.10.10 and 5.0.0 through 5.2.0 allows remote attackers to bypass authentication. The Apple Game Center authentication adapter accepts an attacker-controlled publicKeyUrl with insufficient host and resource validation, then downloads and trusts the referenced certificate. An unauthenticated request must reach a deployment with the Game Center adapter enabled; repeated certificate fetches can interrupt the server without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
