Stored cross-site scripting via unescaped canonical URI
Published May 5, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in Contao 4.13.0 through 4.13.2 allows remote attackers to inject code into front-end canonical tags. PageRegular::prepare assigns the request-derived canonical URI to the template without HTML escaping, allowing attribute-breaking markup to reach the rendered link element. Canonical tags must be enabled, and rendering an affected page executes the injected code in the visitor's browser under the page's origin.
