Arbitrary file read via external entity expansion
Published Apr 28, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
XXE in the XML script service in XWiki Commons allows remote authenticated users with Script rights to read server-accessible files. XMLUtils.parse leaves DOCTYPE declarations and external general and parameter entities enabled, so the parser resolves attacker-supplied file URIs into document content. Script rights are required, and disclosure is limited to files readable by the XWiki application-server account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
