CSRF protection bypass via retained pre-login tokens

CSRF token fixation in affected Symfony SecurityBundle releases allows remote attackers to bypass CSRF protection through a same-site attack. SessionAuthenticationStrategy migrates the session ID on successful login but leaves pre-login CSRF tokens in session-backed token storage. Exploitation requires remote attackers to control a same-site origin and induce a victim to log in; the retained token then bypasses validation in that authenticated session.
