CVE-2022-24877Network attack vector

Sensitive-file disclosure via kustomization path traversal

Published May 6, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Path traversal in Flux kustomize-controller before 0.24.0 allows remote authenticated users to read sensitive files via a malicious kustomization.yaml. The controller joins attacker-controlled resource paths without constraining them to the intended kustomization directory, permitting traversal into its pod filesystem. Exploitation requires the ability to submit or cause reconciliation of a crafted Kustomization; exposed files can disclose credentials and enable privilege escalation in multi-tenancy deployments.
