CVE-2022-24858Network attack vector

Open redirect via prefix-only base URL validation

Published Apr 19, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Open redirect in NextAuth.js version 3 before 3.29.2 and version 4 before 4.3.2 allows remote attackers to redirect users. The default redirect callback accepts an untrusted callback URL when its string begins with the trusted base URL, rather than requiring the parsed origins to match. Exploitation requires a user to follow a crafted authentication link, after which the browser can be sent to an attacker-controlled site; the flaw does not itself execute code or alter server data.
