Admin access via unmodified alternate login route
Published Apr 15, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Authentication bypass in Tobias Bengfort django-mfa3 before 0.5.0 allows remote authenticated users to access Django admin without MFA. The package replaces the normal login view with mfa.views.LoginView but leaves django.contrib.admin's separate AdminSite.login route unchanged, so password authentication reaches admin without the MFA flow. Exposure requires django.contrib.admin, an accessible admin login route, and no independent redirect or access control.
