CVE-2022-24846Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via unrestricted JNDI lookup

Published Apr 14, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Deserialization in GeoWebCache's JDBC disk quota store before 1.19.3 and 1.20.0 through 1.20.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. JDBCQuotaStoreFactory.getDataSource passes the configured JNDI source directly to InitialContext.lookup, permitting non-Java schemes that can resolve attacker-controlled serialized objects. Remote reachability requires administrative access to the GeoServer interface or REST configuration; stand-alone deployments require write access to local configuration, and successful lookup executes code in the server process.
