CVE-2022-24830Network attack vector

Arbitrary file reads and writes via unchecked paths

Published May 13, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025

Path traversal in OpenClinica before 3.16 allows remote authenticated users to read or write arbitrary server files through web endpoints. Download handlers construct file objects from controlled filenames, while the OpenRosa submission handler appends a controlled studyOID without verifying that the canonical path remains under the intended directory. Low-privileged access reaches the affected surface; reads expose server data, and writes enable code execution where the deployment executes an attacker-written file.
