CVE-2022-24828Network attack vector

Command execution via VCS option injection

Published Apr 13, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Argument injection in Composer before 1.10.26, 2.0.0 through 2.2.11, and 2.3.0 through 2.3.4 allows attackers to execute commands. VcsDriver::getFileContent passes attacker-controlled identifiers and file names to Git or Mercurial without rejecting leading option delimiters. Exploitation requires an exposed integrator argument or an explicitly configured attacker-controlled VCS repository, and commands inherit the Composer process's privileges.
