Authorization bypass via parameterized TEXT SQL comments
Published Apr 11, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
SQL injection in Yahoo Elide 6.1.3 allows remote attackers to bypass analytic-query authorization filters with crafted TEXT parameters. The aggregation datastore accepts hyphens in parameterized TEXT column values that cannot use prepared statements, so a double hyphen starts an SQL comment and removes the generated WHERE clause. Exposure requires analytic queries with parameterized TEXT columns; CRUD requests and other parameter types are not affected.
