Authenticated memory corruption via unchecked OID length
Published Apr 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Buffer overflow in Net-SNMP before 5.9.2 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt snmpd memory via a malformed VACM SET request. The nsVacmAccessTable_handler function copies the fifth OID index value into the fixed-size atype buffer without first checking idx->val_len. Read-write SNMP credentials are required, and the documented consequence is bounded to out-of-bounds memory access in the agent.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
