CVE-2022-24805Network attack vector

Memory corruption via unchecked VACM index copy

Published Apr 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Buffer overflow in Net-SNMP before 5.9.2 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt agent memory through a crafted VACM MIB index. The nsVacmAccessTable handler copies an attacker-controlled index value into the fixed-size atype buffer without first rejecting an oversized value. Read-only SNMP credentials are sufficient to reach the network-exposed agent, and the published CNA assessment bounds the reported consequence to memory integrity.
