CVE-2022-24798Network attack vector

Password-hash disclosure via incomplete query filtering

Published Mar 31, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Sensitive-data exposure in IRRd 4.2.0 through 4.2.2 allows remote attackers to retrieve password hashes from mntner objects. The remove_auth_hashes helper used a case-sensitive early check, while GraphQL resolvers mishandled auth lists and returned journal objectText without filtering. Only authoritative databases that process hashes are affected; exposed hashes can be cracked to obtain passphrases and alter protected IRR objects.
