CVE-2022-24792Network attack vector

Application hang via oversized media chunk length

Published Apr 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Denial of service in PJSIP PJPROJECT 2.12 and earlier allows remote attackers to hang 32-bit applications with malformed WAV files. The WAV parser converts an unsigned 32-bit chunk length greater than LONG_MAX to a signed long for file seeking, so the wrapped offset prevents parser progress. Only 32-bit applications that process untrusted WAV or AVI media or pass attacker-controlled offsets to pj_file_*() expose the condition.
