Admin privilege escalation via omitted project checks
Published Mar 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Improper access control in affected Argo CD releases allows remote authenticated users to access project-forbidden cluster resources. Application resource APIs traversed live resource trees and accepted resources without applying AppProject destination and resource allow or deny rules. Exploitation requires repository push access or Application sync and override access; additional RBAC rights determine whether resources can be viewed, changed, deleted, or used for admin escalation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 0.5.0, < 2.1.14
- Affected versionversion=>= 2.2.0, < 2.2.8
