CVE-2022-24735Public exploit

Cross-user code execution via writable Lua globals

Published Apr 27, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025

Code injection in Redis before 6.2.7 or 7.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute Lua with another user's privileges. The Lua engine stores wrapped scripts as writable global functions keyed by script hash, allowing one user to replace code later invoked through EVALSHA. Exploitation requires Redis ACLs, Lua command access for a lower-privileged account, and a higher-privileged user to run the affected script.
