CVE-2022-24734Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via type-trimming mismatch

Published Mar 9, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025

Code injection in MyBB 1.2.0 through 1.8.29 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary PHP through Admin CP settings. The Settings module compares an untrimmed setting type against php, but later trims the type and passes the stored code to eval(). An account with Admin CP access and the Can manage settings? permission can run code in the web application's server context.
