CVE-2022-24728Network attack vector

JavaScript execution via HTML sanitization bypass

Published Mar 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Cross-site scripting in CKEditor 4 before 4.18.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through crafted HTML in the editor. The core HTML processing module accepts malformed markup that bypasses content sanitization, allowing script execution in the browser context. Exploitation requires an authenticated user who can submit content and a victim or editor session that processes the crafted markup; the impact is script execution with the page's privileges.
