CVE-2022-24716Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated file disclosure via unchecked asset paths

Published Mar 8, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Path traversal in Icinga Web 2 2.9.0 through 2.9.5 allows remote attackers to read server files via static library requests. StaticController concatenates the request-controlled asset path to the library asset root and, before the patch, checks only whether the resulting path is a readable file. No authentication or user interaction is required; disclosure is limited to files readable by the web-server account, including configuration files with database credentials.
