Authenticated code execution via SSH resource path traversal
Published Mar 8, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Path traversal in Icinga Web 2 before 2.8.6 and 2.9.0 through 2.9.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. SshResourceForm uses the SSH username directly in a configuration-directory file path and accepts file:// private-key values, allowing crafted input to place a key outside the intended SSH directory. Exploitation requires an authenticated user with configuration access and runs code in the web application's server context.
