CVE-2022-24696Public exploit

SYSTEM code execution via writable service configuration

Published Mar 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Privilege escalation in Mirametrix Glance before 5.1.1.42207 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM. The MaseService access-control list grants the built-in Users group permission to change the Windows service configuration, including its binary path. A standard local account can redirect that path and restart the service; the replacement runs as Local Service and can be chained to SYSTEM through token impersonation.
