CVE-2022-2469Network attack vector

Authenticated server crash via undersized GSS-API token

Published Jul 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

An out-of-bounds read in GNU SASL before 2.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to crash a GSS-API server with a crafted token. The _gsasl_gssapi_server_step function reads fields from the unwrapped token buffer before confirming that bufdesc2 is at least four bytes long. Kerberos authentication must complete before the undersized wrapped message reaches this code; successful exploitation interrupts the server process.
