Arbitrary file upload via unchecked ZIP extraction
Published Feb 8, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in HYPHP HYBBS2 2.3.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary files via a crafted ZIP archive. The update_code function in Admin.php renames the supplied archive and extracts its contents into the Plugin directory without validating embedded file types. Access to the management background is required; a dangerous server-side file can execute with the web service's permissions.
