Contributor-level code execution via unrestricted Gutenberg block
Published Feb 16, 2022 · Updated Jan 31, 2025
Code injection in PHP Everywhere 2.0.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary PHP through a Gutenberg block. The plugin exposes its PHP-evaluating Gutenberg block to every account with edit_posts instead of enforcing an administrator-only capability check. Contributor-level access is sufficient to add PHP to a post and execute it during preview, granting control within the WordPress server context.
