Privilege escalation via unsanitized archive paths
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
Path traversal in Rockwell Automation ISaGRAF Workbench 6.0 through 6.6.9 allows attackers to write files via a crafted .7z exchange file. During extraction, Workbench fails to sanitize paths stored in the archive, allowing entries to escape the intended directory. A local user must open the file; written files inherit the application's permissions, reaching SYSTEM privileges when it runs as SYSTEM.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
