Local SYSTEM escalation via elevated repair dialog
Published Mar 9, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Local privilege escalation in Heimdal Premium Security 2.5.395 and earlier allows local users to gain SYSTEM access through MSI repair. The Heimdal.Wizard.exe repair flow exposes a Browse For Folder dialog at SYSTEM integrity and lets that dialog start Command Prompt or PowerShell. A standard Windows user must trigger Repair for the cached MSI package; successful exploitation grants full SYSTEM execution on that host.
