Stored script execution via unescaped comment author
Published Feb 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in PluXml 5.8.7 comment administration allows remote authenticated users to execute web scripts through the author parameter. The /core/admin/comment.php handler stores the author value and later renders it without sufficient HTML output encoding. A privileged user must view the affected comment, causing the payload to run in that user's browser and exposing data or actions available to that session.
