CVE-2022-24466

Guest integrity impact via virtual switch ACL bypass

Published May 10, 2022 · Updated Jan 2, 2025

Security feature bypass in Hyper-V on affected Windows releases allows guest OS users to alter host functionality through virtual networking. The Hyper-V Virtual Machine Switch in Hyper-V Network Virtualization fails to enforce extended port ACLs and other Windows security checks. A low-privileged guest on an adjacent virtual network can cross the guest-host security boundary and cause limited integrity impact, with no reported data disclosure or service interruption.
