Admin-level PHP object invocation via PHAR path
Published Sep 13, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
PHP object injection in Benjamin Rojas WP Editor 1.2.9 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to invoke arbitrary PHP objects. The current_theme_root path accepts a phar:// URL that reaches PHP deserialization without rejecting the wrapper or serialized content. Exploitation requires Administrator privileges, a successfully uploaded serialized payload, and a usable POP chain; resulting actions are limited to capabilities exposed by that chain.
