Arbitrary command execution via Git option injection
Published May 1, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Command injection in git-pull-or-clone before 2.0.2 allows attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands through crafted clone inputs. The gitClone path passes attacker-controlled url and outPath values to git clone before an option terminator, allowing either value to be parsed as --upload-pack. Exploitation requires a consuming application to accept an attacker-controlled repository URL or destination path, and commands run with that application's privileges.
