CVE-2022-24320Public exploit

Credential disclosure via unvalidated server certificate

Published Feb 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper certificate validation in all Schneider Electric ClearSCADA and Geo SCADA Expert 2019 and 2020 versions allows attackers to read traffic. The client uses an attacker-substituted server public key to encrypt its nonce during authentication, exposing the value needed to derive session keys. Active interception of ViewX-to-server communications is required; decrypted traffic includes login credentials and sensor alarm data and can be modified.
