Cross-player inventory manipulation via unchecked ownership
Published Feb 2, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authorization bypass in Minetest before 5.4.0 allows remote authenticated users to take from or add items to another player's inventory. The Server::handleCommand_InventoryAction path trusted packet-supplied player inventory names instead of rejecting names that differed from the requesting player. Ordinary player access is sufficient, and the consequence is limited to unauthorized inventory reading and modification.
