ItemStack metadata injection in Minetest before 5.4.0 allows remote attackers to alter item metadata through saved mod input. ItemStackMetadata::setString accepted names and values containing serialization control delimiters, causing later deserialization to interpret embedded bytes as new keys or pairs. Exposure requires a mod to save attacker-controlled ItemStack input; consequences include forged keys, unlimited item creation, or service interruption of an unspecified type.
