CVE-2022-24296Network attack vector

Information disclosure via breakable encrypted communications

Published Jun 8, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Broken cryptography in Mitsubishi Electric air-conditioning controllers allows remote attackers to disclose messages by sniffing traffic. Mitsubishi Electric identifies the communication-protection locus and the CWE, but does not identify the algorithm or protocol operation that makes captured ciphertext recoverable. Exploitation requires access to network traffic and user interaction; intranet or VPN configurations prevent attacks from the Internet.
