CVE-2022-24294Network attack vector

Process hang via RTC regular-expression backtracking

Published Jul 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Regular expression denial of service in Apache MXNet before 1.9.1 allows attackers to exhaust CPU when a crafted model is loaded. The legacy RTC get_kernel parser applies repeated arbitrary-length whitespace groups to each untrusted kernel-signature argument, causing excessive backtracking. Exploitation requires an application to load attacker-controlled model content and can hang its process without reported data access or modification.
