Deserialization of untrusted data in Apache Cayenne 4.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. The ROPServlet accepts Hessian POST bodies and deserializes attacker-controlled objects, allowing gadget code in vulnerable server dependencies to run. Exploitation requires client access to optional ROP and a non-current Java patch level; the resulting code runs in the server process.
