Authenticated kiosk escape via missing printer configuration
Published May 10, 2022 · Updated Apr 21, 2025
Improper initialization in Siemens SIMATIC WinCC products allows local users to escape Kiosk Mode through the print dialog. When no physical default printer is configured, the affected application opens the printer dialog without preserving the kiosk restriction. Exploitation requires an authenticated local session and grants access to the underlying host outside the intended operator interface.
