Database inference via order_by SQL injection
Published Jan 31, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
SQL injection in Cuppa CMS 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to infer database contents through the table manager's order_by parameter. The table manager accepts attacker-controlled SQL syntax in order_by, enabling a conditional sleep expression to serve as a time-based data oracle. The demonstrated route requires valid application credentials and access to the table manager; the documented consequence is database confidentiality loss.
