Authenticated code execution via Zip Slip restore
Published Mar 1, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Zip Slip in Extensis Portfolio 4.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code through a crafted backup archive. The admin portal restore flow extracts traversal paths from ZIP entries without confining them to the backup directory, placing a JSP shell in the web root. Administrative portal access is required; the shell executes even when the restore job later fails, and internet exposure is not the typical deployment.
