Authenticated code execution via path-traversing file upload
Published Mar 1, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Unrestricted file upload in Extensis Portfolio 4.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code through FileTransferServlet. The servlet accepts relative paths in a filename, moves uploaded content to the chosen disk location without file locking, and deletes it only after saving metadata. Exploitation requires valid portal access, repeated uploads to win the create-delete race, creation of the nondefault custom-scripts directory, and a request that triggers Nashorn execution.
