Email sender spoofing via crafted Test Email request
Published Mar 21, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Insecure permissions in Snapt Aria 12.8 allow remote authenticated users to send email that impersonates other users through its management portal. The email configuration accepts a crafted Test Email request bearing an unprivileged authentication token and sends the message under another user's identity. Access to such a token and interaction with the request are required; the demonstrated consequence is sender impersonation, not account takeover.
