CVE-2022-24141

Token impersonation via unverified named pipe connection

Published Jul 6, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Local privilege escalation in iTop VPN 3.2 allows local users to obtain another user's access token through a crafted named pipe. iTopVPNmini.exe repeatedly connects to datastate_iTopVPN_Pipe_Server without verifying the pipe server, letting its operator invoke ImpersonateNamedPipeClient on the connection. Exploitation requires SeImpersonatePrivilege and a process listening on the named pipe; the resulting token permits impersonation of the connecting user.
