CVE-2022-24140

Administrator code execution via unauthenticated HTTP updates

Published Jul 6, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Insecure updating in affected IObit desktop utilities allows man-in-the-middle attackers to execute code with administrator privileges. The update procedures fetch a configuration file over HTTP, trust the update location parsed from that file, and automatically install the referenced package without verifying its origin or integrity. Exposure requires interception of update traffic from Advanced System Care 15, Driver Booster 9, iTop Screen Recorder 2.1, iTop VPN 3.2, or iTop Screenshot; a forged configuration redirects the privileged installer to attacker-controlled code.
