Local privilege escalation via writable update directory
Published Jul 6, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Local privilege escalation in IObit Advanced SystemCare 15 allows local users to execute code with high-integrity administrator rights. Asc.exe and Action Download Center store downloaded suite components in a ProgramData directory that grants unprivileged users write access. A low-privilege user can hold an oplock until CreateProcess runs, replace the expected component with a malicious executable, and cause privileged execution.
