Stored script execution via unescaped settings
Published Aug 8, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Better Tag Cloud 0.99.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through plugin settings. Text fields such as Title, Taxonomy, and Smallest font size are stored without sufficient sanitization or output escaping and execute when an injected page is viewed. Administrative privileges and disabled unfiltered_html, including a multisite setup, are required; a viewing user's browser executes the stored script.
