Unauthenticated malicious firmware installation via missing integrity check
Published Dec 26, 2022 · Updated Apr 11, 2025
Firmware integrity vulnerability in General Electric Renewable Energy products before fixed releases allows remote attackers to install malicious firmware. Devices download firmware without cryptographic signature or integrity verification, so a tampered image can be accepted during update. Exploitation requires network reachability to the update service but no authentication; successful replacement can execute attacker-controlled code and disrupt device operation.
