CVE-2022-24107

Code execution via unchecked JPXStream integer arithmetic

Published Aug 30, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Integer overflow in JPXStream in Xpdf before 4.04 allows attackers to crash the application or execute code through crafted input. The JPEG 2000 decoder uses unchecked integer arithmetic on stream data, allowing a computed value to exceed its representable range. Upstream has not identified the exact expression; exploitation requires a user or automated processor to open a crafted document, and code runs with that process's privileges.
