Stored XSS via unescaped chart data labels
Published Aug 8, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in the Rough Chart WordPress plugin 1.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through chart data labels. The chart editor stores label markup without sufficient sanitization, and the chart view renders the label without escaping it. Administrator-level access and a viewer click on the crafted label are required; the script runs in the viewer's browser when unfiltered_html is disabled.
