Local HWP file disclosure via replaceable viewer scripts

Published Mar 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

File exposure in NAVER Whale Browser before 3.12.129.46 allows remote attackers to read local HWP files through an extension. An installed extension can replace JavaScript used by the HWP viewer website, and the substituted script receives access to an opened local document. The user must run the extension and open an HWP file; the disclosed content is limited to documents processed by the viewer.
